My main craft is Knitting. My Grandmother and Mother taught me to knit when I was 5 years old. They bought me a small pair of red plastic knitting needles and gave me left over wool they had to practice on. I knitted coasters, pot holders, book marks and my first Tea Cosy...all in garter stitch.. At 7 years old I progressed to reading basic knitting patterns and knitted my first sweater. My grandmother never followed any written down patterns and my mother knitted jumpers, cardigans, hats with pom-poms or tassels and socks for school. By the age of 10 I was knitting cable stitches and produced my first Aran scarf. I enjoy all styles of knitting but my favourite is Aran. In my younger days I knitted for my sisters and their children and also for family friends. I was in a wool shop one day and was wearing one of my knitted jackets when a lady asked me about the jacket. I told her I did it myself the lady was the owner and she hired me to knit Aran items for the shop.
