I learned the basic knit and purl stitches from my grandmother when I was 7 but didn't really explore any further until I was pregnant with my daughter. I continued knitting until she was about 12, when I started university and thus had no more time. I picked it up again when my first granddaughter was due, back in 2000. Until about a year and a half ago, everything besides that basic knit and purl stitch that I learned from my grandmother, came out of books..I am so delighted with the offerings of classes now and have learned so many new skills in the past 18 months. I prefer to work with natural fibers and at this time, work mostly on clothing items as I have a family who is happy to wear them
