My Italian grandmother crocheted lace to trim every piece of fabric in her house--curtains, pillow cases, handkerchiefs, etc. When I was 8-9 years old she sent me home with a ball of crochet cotton, a crochet hook and the start of a strand of lace. I have been "hooked" ever since, learning to knit as an adult. I have never had formal lessons which caused problems sometimes when following a pattern but with YouTube now, I can always figure it out!!
