I'm a rather slow (distracted, sporadic) knitter. I started a blanket for my firstborn well over a month before she was born and she got it around 3 months old. I never finished the trim, it's in a closet somewhere three fourths completed. This time around I just tried to be realistic and planned to have it ready for Christmas, when my second child would be almost 2 months old, but I ended up nesting so hard I finished it before he arrived! I've gotten SO many compliments on it. We use it every day to swaddle and keep warm on walks or just napping. I've fallen asleep under it myself a couple times, it's so cozy! The lines are clean and the colors remind me of mint chocolate chip ice cream, which I always crave when it snows. Though living in SoCal I don't think they'll be much of that. (Snow, that is...) It's an easily adjustable pattern, so now I'm making a full Christmas bedspread for my daughter. Though I expect she'll receive it around Easter.
