mid-summer madness

I made this for something to keep my hands busy

    About

Got inspired by granny blanket I had seen on tv with really bright yarn and dark background, I opted for dark blue instead of black and most of the yarn I have used are odds and ends from my stash or leftovers from the Carousel Blanket. Really enjoyed doing the squares, relaxing without too much concentration but since the weather has got warmer the joining and edging have become a chore. It is mid-summers day and sweltering and I have been sewing in the ends with my feet in a tub of water - it's a hard life!

Just my cup of tea. I love the way you binder it together. Worth all the hard work

I adore this! I've been wanting to make a colourful granny blanket with black - gorgeous work.

Oh my, stunning. So much work and yes, a mammoth task sewing up all these edges.
Have you tried the join as you go technique? I did it once, took a while perfecting it on triangles, but it saved a lot of time sewing with my arthriticy fingers. 😊
Again, beautiful colours. I think the navy will be less harsh too than had you used black as the pattern suggested.

I did use the join as you go method but did it all in one go. I like joining that way as you get into a better rhythm trouble is I never sew in my ends as I go and regret it later

@Sarah T: Oh, don't mention the dreaded ends. I try to make a point of sew the ends as I go after a big project where I spent as much time just doing ends. Argh. Horrible memory!
This is a brilliant way to use up all the little balls in amassing in boxes under our guest bed. Must give it a try.

Lovely! Reminds me of Amy's throw on the Big Bang Theory.

Really relaxing though just doing lots of repetitive granny squares

So pretty. I might do something similar with my left over yarn.

This is really nice! It must have taken a long time, but worth it! Blankets like this are wonderful when you make them in wool/alpaca especially, the softness and thickness crochet gives them makes them look really pop out and highlight the room there in too :)
