I made this for myself

    About

I wanted to practise cables and thought this wrap looked so pretty on the pattern I'd give it a try. Little did I know what I was getting into! The pattern starts off with clear instructions, setting up the cable patterns, but then just says 'carry on in the same way until it measures n cms' - which I found fiendishly difficult, since there are two different sets of cables, smaller, simple ones and larger ones which intertwine in a complicated manner. The 2 sets of cables proceed at quite different rates ... the only way I could manage this was by writing out my own pattern instructions, over many sheets of my notebook.

I was very relieved to finish the project and fairly pleased with my handiwork. The finished result does not hang very well despite the garter stitch border, but no doubt that could be corrected by 'blocking'; however, that's a skill I have yet to learn.

And the wrap is a nice mid-weight cosy item that keeps drafts at bay (I wear it when reading in bed).

Bravo! You are very courageous to carry on with vague instructions such as you had. I am very impressed! The pattern is beautiful.

Thank you so much! I didn't want to let it defeat me ... and learned a lot in the doing.
