    About

I admired the vintage bolero style that my mother wore - when it was in fashion - and wanted a modern-day version. This is the first adult-sized garment I have ever knitted - a baby jacket knitted for my best friend's first baby in 1962 doesn't count! I learned many techniques in order to make this, sourcing tutorials on YouTube. I learned to increase and decrease for the shape, and the trickiest technique was taking up stitches from the front edges to do the band in rib.

I used Sublime luxurious tweed dk 60% wool, 40% cotton in the colour Flora. The yarn is quite rough, with sharp little bits, and I would use a softer yarn the next time I make this pattern.

The bolero fits really well. I had a few plane trips, and did a lot of the knitting during the flights. I'm so glad knitting is, once again, allowed on flights, al least in Australia.
