I was devastated when my best girlfriend, Moon, announced she would be moving to California, a good 1,000 miles away. I pretty much had no other girlfriends, in the area anyway. A friend of hers apparently had offered to hold onto some of her things. After Moon moved, I had one more box of hers that I was going to drop off to her friend's place for keeping. I drove over, and after I handed the box to Moon's friend, Nicole, we started chatting. She commented on the hat I was wearing and I informed her that I had knit it. Nicole mentioned that she had lots of yarn and a few pairs of knitting needles, but had no idea how to use them. I offered to teach her if she wanted to come over. And so that Sunday night, and every Sunday night since, Nicole has been coming over to knit with me. Our friendship has really blossomed, and we are close friends now. This shawl that I knit was the first project I started and completed during our "knit nights" and holds lots of memories and fun times.
