Oh, great. I've just seen the bloody cable throw! I think you might be attempting a joke with the use of the word 'simple'. Or perhaps this is in reference to the prospective knitter. Hmmm ... I knitted a two foot tall gargoyle once, true story. Give me a flat thing - fahgeddaboudit. Ahhhh. Drooling again, FrankieW.

Saw this and sobbed. I'm battling so much with this at the moment. Looking after 87 yr old mother who's so used to me churning out stuff rapid fire that i just know she's dying to ask me, well, WTF. Got answer all planned. "You do realise there are nearly 200 stitches on here..." I'll persevere. Using this picture that I know will haunt me forever as my inspiration. Which is good. Am turned of the perspiration. So, thank you, Frankie W. Kathtyn

I knitted it as a surprise for a friend with Fibromyalgia who saw the pattern and said she loved it. I really wasn't looking forward to knitting it. I prefer patterns with a short repeat that I can 'learn'. This I had to have the pattern with me all the time but I think it was worth it in the end. Let me know how you get on.

@Frankie W: I'd like to knit this as a blanket for a king sized bed (I'm thinking 2 more trees, sizewise??) . Having knitted it yourself, do you think I could just add the extra stiches, or should I halve the project, divide in 2, or even 3 panels...

I knitted this a while ago now, if I remember correctly the pattern is in different sections. The 'tulips' are quite a small pattern repeat, the trees obviously much wider. I would think you could add a couple more trees to the width without too much difficulty. You might need to add a few more stitches between the trees to get the tulips right. It is shown on a king size, 5ft, bed so you would need probably a couple more trees to get a good width or maybe even double the entire width????
