I had just finished knitting the animals for an Ark sent to my granddaughter in Australia and wanted another project. I found the book and, having always loved the song, thought it would be fun to create and display the characters. Alongside a caring role at home I began with the partridge and developed into something of a conveyor belt knitter to create all the tiny pieces needed for each character. Researching tiny buttons led me to new web sites, and my stash of left over yarns supplied some of what was needed which means I have fond memories of clothes and toys I have made for a variety of people every time I display the characters. Some of the yarns used cannot be listed because they have been discontinued for so long, such as the Rowan Cork used for the 6 geese a-laying, or the fluffy white wool previously used for The Snowman, here used for the 7 swans a-swimming.
