In October I received difficult medical news that led to major surgery in early December. As I was home recovering, the only thing I really could do was knit, but I didn't have much motivation. Until my cousin's wife messaged me to ask if I could made some leg warmers for her daughter. Of course I said yes, but then she dropped a serious bomb and asked me if I could make a pair for everyone on the gymnastics team (23 pairs)! And I would have only a couple of months to finish them before their big meet in Chicago.
Thinking about the smiles on the faces of those little girls is why I said yes. The constant knitting also helped me with my recovery as it gave me something I could actually do, and I felt a growing sense of accomplishment as each pair was finished. It was tight at the end but I managed to finish all of the legwarmers in time for the girls to wear them to their meet. And I was back on my feet by then as well, feeling better than I had before my surgery.
