Simon the Schnauzer

I made this for My pack of wonderful grandchildren

    About

Continuing with the dog obsession, Simon joins the pack! Paddy and Granny came up with names and Paddy chose Simon. I wanted Fritz but was overruled by a 3 year old who assured me Fritz wasn’t a real name and I’d made it up!

    Pattern

    Schnauzer by Amanda Berry

This pattern can be found here:
    www.deramores.com

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 3.75mm (US 5) 25cm

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle
    • Stitch Markers
    • Stuffing
Other : Black and fawn DK yarn plus 12mm toy safety eyes and some light blue yarn and a bead for the collar.

    Measurements

Notes: Simon measures 23cms tall, standing which is 1cm more than the pattern states but I probably overstuffed him. I knitted the nose rather than stitched it on; I’ll be knitting his pal in grey next; named Fritz!!!

These guys are really beautiful. I’ve made the sheepdog but must have a go at the others now.

Thank you Julie, these guys are easy to knit and very sturdy children’s toys- they do miss my grandson 😆.

@Hazel H: Ohh I remember when you were making these Hazel you couldn't knit them quickly enough as everytime Paddy came to visit he expected a new one.lol.😊😊❤I think we need a photo of after the children have played with them and how they survived being flown around the lounge.lol.😊

@Michelle M: Funnily enough I have just put the whole set of dogs into the toy box in the kitchen and they still look very good - I just hope Stella doesn’t get hold of them; she’s ruined Paddys African animals that I knitted when he was wee.

Thanks Pam, they’re easy to do except for the ‘musch’ - very fiddly but satisfying in a weird way!

Hello Hazel,Ohh Simon is just gorgeous, you have got his musch(that means beard and moustache, in schnauzers language)just perfect, I love the colours, and you know what he has the inquisitive wee eyes they have.😊 You are having so much fun making these wee babies, and I see you put a request in to Amanda for a Great Dane woo hoo that means I get to name it,pretty please.😁😁😁😁can't wait to see your wee grey schnauzer.

Michelle, thank you so much! I think Amanda will think we’re both nuts! But if she does do a Great Dane Pattern, then I’ll knit it and you can name it! I’m pleased that you like Simon and that his Musch is okay. It takes a while to do it and I wasn’t sure if I’d got it right.

@Hazel H: Ezra our 2 year old grandson is the same bright as a button. I was struggling to get his converse boots on when I finally managed he said well done Nanny Vix. I love the fact Paddy insisted it was a made up name 😂

@Vix: Don’t you think that our grandchildren are so clever or is it we never had time to notice with our children? Paddy is very observant and very bold!

@Hazel H: probably a bit of both but it is just so funny when the toddlers talk like they are 20!

@Vix: you’re so right! What amazes me tho’ is that Paddy uses words in the right context - you just wonder how he knows!

He is just adorable, of course his name is Simon! How can it be anything else grandma! But his brother can be Fritz!! Which I think sounds wee bit more like a schnauzer. He is lovely and I love the colours you have knitted him in ,he is gorgeous 😊
