Classic stitches in crochet!
This lace shawl was crocheted in one piece from corner-to-corner. The Body consisted of a 2-row Treble Cross-stitch pattern while the Border was simultaneously worked in a 10-row Filet Cable (and trimmed with a single Treble Cross-stitch at the very bottom for a scalloped edge).
For the First Corner, stitches were gradually increased until the desired Shawl depth was achieved. The Body then commenced and, through the use of smaller stitches at the neck edge, the piece began to gently curve to produce a crescent-like silhouette. Finally, the Second Corner was made by gradually decreasing stitches to taper down the fabric. Based on the simple patterning, it was easy to memorize the Body repeat and, for the Border pattern, I just kept referencing the previously-worked rows to determine how the current one should proceed.
I also think this pattern would make an elegant everyday shawl in a pastel M/C/N fingering.
