I make hand crafted gifts for a living; heart cushions are my specialty. An ex-work colleague asked me to knit three for her to go in her conservatory.
Hi Sabrina. I love your heart trios! I'm dying to make some for my soon to be married daughter's apartment. Do you have patterns I could purchase? Thanks! ♡ ♡ ♡
I found this pattern on YouTube months ago but adjusted it by using thicker wool, bigger needles and adjusting the formula to make bigger ones so that I could make cushions. The video is a demonstration of a pattern from ravelry.com. Both urls are below. The pattern is in three parts: the humps, the mid section and reducing. The cushions that I make are around 33x33cmsq. The size and pattern depends on the type of wool and I adapt accordingly. If using chunky wool I use 8mm needles and if using super chunky wool I use 10mm needles. As the video shows you will need to knit two humps. The hump in the video starts with 3 cast on. For 8mm needles I start with 5 cast ons and work my way up to 21 stitches for each hump (42 in total once joined). I then knit 17 rows for the mid section. Then I start to reduce as per the video. 100g of chunky wool normally makes 2 sides of a heart with enough left for stitching up. If using 10mm needles I start with 3 co and end on 16 stitches (32 in
@Sabrina A: Thank you so much! What a wonderful gift! You are so generous and kind to write all of this for me. Thank you for sharing your "heart"... Yours is more beautiful than your lovely pillows. xo
