    About

My granddaughter was a "Rainbow Baby," so I celebrated her presence in this sweet skirt and applique for shirt. Note: The skirt was designed for girls with some girth around the middle. My granddaughter is experiencing a growth spurt and is now tall and lean for her age. Per a FB Sheepjes Group discussion, "Gemma" in the UK had the same issue in making this skirt. She ended up plaiting a length of blue yarn and weaving it in just below the waist band, bringing both ends to the back, allowing enough to tie a bow. I did the same, opting to chain instead. You'll note the ins-and-outs of the chain just below the waist. My granddaughter said, "Oma, I want to wear this forever," as it was hastily placed on her today for her trip home. (Shirt back: crocheted a tiny rainbow and sewed it to the back neckline, in addition to the appliquie on the front and crocheted a large rainbow, which I glued to an 8.5x11 piece of white paper, above which was computer printed: Leela's Rainbow Binder.

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 3.00mm (US 2.5)

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle
    • Stitch Markers
    • Buttons
Other : Be sure to have appropriate thread colors available for sewing on of rainbow applique with cloud.

    Measurements

Notes: Made skirt in "Size 3-4 years." Note: Waist was designed for child of some girth at waist (chubby). Was necessary to crochet a chain 44" in length and weave through obvious breaks in pattern just beneath waist band. The chain then ties at the back. Also, added one more round of each color in the ripple pattern to suit my grandaughter's height, otherwise it would have hit her just below the buttocks.
