Painted Desert Child Mittens

I made this for myself -- then regrouped and made it for a child when the size came out wrong.

    About

I made these mittens to explore the color changes in Painted Desert yarn by Knitting Fever. I originally purchased the yarn to make socks, but it's delicate, and the pattern I was using called for a sturdier yarn. Anyway... I thought I'd make a pair of mittens for myself, but half an inch up the cuff, I realized they'd never fit (see photo), so I finished them child-size. The variegation makes a non-matching pair - which I like. It's an easy way to teach a young child right from left!

PS, symmetry is over-rated ;-) These are beautiful.
