    About

I saw the pattern on love knittings website a while ago but as I have never used circular needles I thought it would be too hard so I left it. I kept thinking about it though and going back to the pattern and thinking about it some more. Then I started looking at all the gorgeous super chunky wools and I decided to give it a go as a winter project. Working with circular needles was super easy, I don't know what I was worried about! I live in New Zealand hence my winter project not summer :)

Gorgeous blanket! You can also add little pompoms on edges if any yarn left...

Hi Susan😊 What a gorgeous blanket!! Kudos for the wonderful job you did on this project! You’ve inspired me to try knitting this beautiful blanket for myself as well...as soon as I complete the one that I started to knit for my son up in very frigidly cold Montreal, Canada!

Thanks Linda, it does take ages to do a blanket but well worth it in the end, I’ve done a few baby blankets this year so next year I’m going to do another big blanket for my daughter, I just need to find another pattern the same but different 😃

@Susan K: Hi Susan and I wish you a happy and prosperous 2018!😊 I apologize for my tardy reply but the past week just got the best of me!😬 Yes, it does take time to knit blankets, but it sounds as though you have plenty of experience! The only other blanket I ever knitted was a baby blanket, using a pattern that was typical of the lacy ones knitted in the Shetland Isles. It’s gorgeous, but I never completed it, still needing to finish the scalloped edging that will be attached to it eventually! Lol Your blanket is so beautiful that your daughter may love to have the same one for herself!😉

Thank you, I'm really glad I made it as we have had a really cold & wet winter in New Zealand this year and it has been great to snuggle up in my 'blanky' ????

Apologies re my last comment it is clearly chunky. I am wondering how it would turn out on smaller needles suited to Aran wool. Am I biting off more than I should not having knitted for a while?

I think it would turn out fine, the pattern is actually easy once you get into it, maybe it wouldn't be as big in Aran but you could add another diamond pattern & just keep knitting till you get the length you want, happy knitting

This is simply beautiful. Literally just started knitting again after decades in the wilderness. This pattern appears to have very chunky needles is that correct? Wool thicker than Aran?

How funny. I am a Susan K as well and if one of us can do it then the other should give it a crack.

I'm glad, I actually really enjoyed making it, especially as it got bigger and kept me warm while I was knitting. I have only been doing baby knitting for a while now so it was a complete change for me and using circular needles was a breeze. I have just started a good sized baby blanket using chunky wool and 8mm circular needles and it's so quick to do
