I made this for Myself

    About

This is so delicate and ideal for evening wear or a special occasion. The barely-there silk-mohair is so fine it takes a little time to get used to knitting with it, however once I got going I found it so gorgeous and surprisingly warm to touch. Keep the balls away from kitties, as my naughty cat Purdey was on it within a blink of an eye and it took me ages to de-tangle! Just started this project and have decided to do so with sleeves first! Looking forward to my first attempt at cable work later on in the main body.

I think you'll just have to make one for Purdey too :)

Would you believe? This is still an unfinished project due to the yarn being no longer available and I can’t find a colour match anywhere! 😕

@Teresa B: O.M.G. That is SO annoying for you, I truly sympathise.

I know it will hurt, but the only way out is to unravel it, stash that yarn for a pair of socks or a hat or something - cat nest??? - and begin again. There are a fair few Plume clones, I'm sure you know them.

The silver lining I've found on doing this is that my little guilty bodges aren't needed when it's the second time around, or not so much anyway. You'll get a better finished result.

Thank you. I’ve just finished both sleeves. Tomorrow I start the main body. The colour is Sea Green.

I loved knitting this. Making up is tough with such fine yarn but it is so beautiful it is worth taking the time. My only disappointment is that I find the sleeve length too long - and I have long arms and already made them a little shorter than the pattern called for. All pics show long sleeves so I went for it but I just don't like the look for the drape so I recommend others be aware of this and adjust to suit their own preferences.

Well done Christine B. I had to put it down as I have had quite a few urgent matters to deal with - like house sale. However, I am looking forward to carrying-on with it and to get it finished.

Hi Theresa, good luck with your cardigan. I am about to start it also but as I am allergic to mohair I am using Fyberspates Scrumptious lace in a gorgeous dark red. I can’t wait to get started but first have to wind the yarn! Like you it will take some getting used to such a fine yarn. Oh, and I love your Chimney Sweep!

Hi Helen, good luck with your cardi. I’ve almost finished one sleeve . Thanks re. The Sweep. My wedding present went down really well with my nephew & his new wife. They have all 3 in a display cabinet in their cute little cottage. 😊
