I found the Mandalas to Crochet book and just love it. Never really interested in mandalas before but this book has really easy instructions for someone who has great difficulty ready instructions/patterns. Did the Leaves and Lace Mandala while on holiday in October and enjoyed it so decided to have a go at the throw. The book recommended DK non-mercerised cotton which would have been really expensive so I used DK cotton instead and it worked out okay although it was really heavy once I worked the borders which I changed slightly.

Ah now you should never feel overwhelmed I think maybe I choose deceptively hard looking projects believe me they are not as hard as they look and maybe being self taught you try things more readily not realizing what you are actually achieving if that makes sense. The Cosmic CAL floored me and currently I am struggling to work on the Persian Tiles blanket that so many others have done wonderful jobs on. You WILL get better just go for it xx
@Sarah T: There is a rhythm to the Persian tiles. The best way I found is to make 6 pieces at a time doing the same stage over and over made it easier for me.
Beautiful! I have this book also and have been wanting to try this pattern ever since I opened the book. You've inspired me to move this project up on my list! Lovely colour choices.
Do you know I really really enjoyed making this one. I think it is because I could make it in pieces and join it up. I have the yarn and pattern book to do the Persian Tiles blanket but I may wait to get started on that. A couple of Scheepjes Whirl yarncakes popped through my letterbox the other day so they are begging some ideas I would like to do a virus blanket maybe. Mind full of ideas but not enough time or energy :)
@Sarah T: It is fiddly til you get used to it. Stitch markers are your best friend. I found it easiest to make a few squares at a time that way you get very familiar with the pattern rows. I love the colours.
