Lachie loves all sea creatures, and although this is a tortoise rather than a turtle, I thought he would like it. He has named him Shelly. This yarn looks perfect for a tortoise shell, however I didn’t love knitting with it - it feels a bit like knitting with string, and as it splits easily and doesn’t slide over itself, increasing and decreasing were tricky. However, I’m very happy with the end result. I only just had enough yarn to finish the shell - a few of the wrong side shell pieces could be made with the head and leg yarn to make sure there is enough for the shell frill, as these pieces won’t be seen once the shell is put together.
