Lace shawl

I made this for I might just keep this one for myself! So often I start a piece not sure where it will end up, but as it gets the finishing touches it finds someone to belong to... happy birthday mum, sorry it's a bit late, but worth the wait!!!

    About

I wanted to make a lacy blanket /shawl and the wool I've started with seems to lend itself to the chain pattern....
    See where it ends up!

added a couple of odd rows with the Debbie bliss silk.... so lovely to work with but as it was dk I just did 1 or 2 rows in places to stabilise the square.
then added the mesh (3x trebled alternativing with v stitch row) I found that combined with the silk really brought out the different colours in the malabrigo...
(which of course meant I just had to get another skein so I could add more!!)

      having so much fun...!
It's so light and soft and yet warm!

Does the Silkpaca feel soft and non irritating to the skin? I'm looking into getting some to make a shawl. Thanks

soooooo soft, especially if it's mix with silk! I love working with it... you can tell as you work the wool through your fingers keeping the tension if it feels nice... the only problem is you don't want to go back to acrylic or cheap wool!😉

they also say alpaca is good for sensitive skin as it's not like sheep's wool as it doesn't have the lanolin! I also find it's warmer but lighter than sheep's wool

Thanks Callie, I bought the natural color that I needed for the project. I can't wait to use it. I don't knit with acrylic for my baby as I like using natural fibers. :-)

@Beata H: it does feel so much nicer!!! You can tell as you work with it!
I was just reading up on the difference between sheep and alpaca wool following your question before and there are see a few plus points for the alpaca....
I thought maybe I was just biased as a friend of mine has some and they are so adorable!

        @Beata H: um no......
hence the need to crochet to try and stay attentive... (well stay awake at least)
(they say crocheting helps concentration for the easily distracted...!)

@Dell F: I picked up the pattern from Pinterest... took me a while to interpret the pattern and get the stitched right but was really pleased with it in the end!
