All three of my grandchildren played with the ‘puppy pack’ this past weekend and Herbie was eagerly awaited but granny was ‘*cream crackered’ and only finished him tonight! ( * exhausted but in a good way)
Other : 12mm safety eyes and tan, brown, black and white DK yarn from my stash plus a very little quantity of wine coloured yarn and an orange wooden fish bead for the collar.
What a gorgeous pack of dogs Hazel, they are all beautifully knitted and just adorable, I don’t think I could pick a favourite but maybe the tiny Jack Russell. But they are all gorgeous. 💕
Many thanks Alison, they have given my little pack of three so much pleasure this weekend but Herbie was included today with Paddy! Tiny is my husbands favourite, unsurprisingly but Paddy really likes Charlie, the chihuahua.
Oh Hazel I haven't heard the expression cream crackered in many years it was a favourite of my dads, and Herbie is just perfect, my aunt loved Bassets so their big slobbering faces were a regular part of my childhood and you've got the facial expression exactly right. What a nice trip down memory lane you've given me.😘
That’s such a lovely thing for you to say Christine, thank you! I used the expression because I tell the grandchildren that’s what I’m feeling as they’re trying to pull me into another game involving puppies, imaginary buses and collecting bus fares - harking back to my own childhood there! I’m glad Herbie reminds you of a real Basset; we had a beagle growing up and I tried to get the hound look!
On wow Hazel, I hope you have recovered from the Grandchild onslaught, this latest addition to the pack is so good, brilliant expression, but never mind the great dane, a Schnauzer would be really good..please???
Thanks Lynne, still in recovery a bit - shouldn’t have stayed up so late to finish Herbie. The Great Dane is a gag between me and Michelle because I’m hooked on these dogs but next up is the Schnauzer, then the collie then the greyhound. Alison’s Schnauzer is tan and black but yours look grey and black - I wonder what colours to do it?
@Lynne T: I’ve decided to knit two Schnauzers in both colourways Lynne, just because I can and because grey is the predominant colour as you say. Just have to order the yarn 😉
Thanks Jackie, I think Herbie will go down well but the Great Dane is a bit of a joke with me and Michelle because I can’t stop knitting the dogs. Maybe Amanda Berry will devise a pattern and then I’ll be knitting it!
Hello Hazel, I have been waiting to see Herbie, now excuse me playing with 3 !!! Grandchildren all weekend is no excuse not to finish this gorgeous wee man.lol😊😊😊well he is absolutely perfect, wow wow wow you must be so happy with him.I want to give him a cuddle too pretty please. Your dogs are so lifelike.😊😊I'm waiting for a great Dane one soon.lol
Thanks Michelle, I’m so glad you like him; he’s my favourite, I think, despite the intarsia knitting! It took me so long because the kids wanted me to play with them and watch them perform and once they went to bed I was trying to stay awake and chat to my daughters! Very little knitting done till they went home! Literally finished him, photographed him and uploaded him tonight!
