I have always loved and enjoyed textiles and being creative. Since graduating university last year, i have devoted my time to creating my own small business in weaving. I hand weave cushions, bags and wall hangings and sell these. This piece is a wall hanging made for my sister using various types of wool in colours that she suggested. The piece is highly textured with various techniques all taught by myself, pom poms, fringing and knitted eye cords to name a few. I believe being creative and expressing yourself is so important in today's world, handmade items are so special compared to the mass consumerism that we all face in today's world and i believe pieces like this show determination, talent and skills that are so traditional yet we seem to be forgetting about in today's world. At 23 i am determined to spread the word about knitting and weaving and to change the old image that it has currently and to make it become a fun and current skill to have.
