I decided to make this baby blanket for a friend’s grandbaby, who is soon to be born. Three of the yarns were in my stash. I had to purchase a darker gray yarn and it was a different brand since I couldn’t find a dark gray in the Bernat Baby Sport yarn. Although all the yarns were a sport weight, the Paton’s was still a lighter weight, so my dark gray squares were coming up a bit smaller than the other colors. So, I didn’t do the join-as-you-go technique, since I needed to block my squares before joining so they would be more uniform.
I really love the look of the mosaic border, but I decided to forego the last row of white. I felt it looked better this way for a little boy.
All in all, the pattern is easy and works up pretty quickly. I hope my friend and the expectant parents like the blanket. Can’t wait for them to see it!
