    About

I was in hospital for monitoring and treating my severe epilepsy. It was then followed by another long stay for a spinal operation. Since I had time on my hands I thought that I would try something new, lace knitting. I have been knitting for many years since my mobility has been severely limited by my spinal problems. As it is something I can do even if I cannot stand up or walk too far. It also provides a great sense of achievement. Being disabled can make you feel depressed and useless but knitting makes me feel happy and fulfilled and that I can achieve.
This shrug was a design I made up as I went along. I have never had the confidence to knit something so complex before but my time in hospital gave me the chance.
Being able to sit and knit as I was wired up to machines that recorded my every brain wave was quite something. It relaxed me and stopped me thinking about the pain and what was going on. I received a lot of compliments whilst I was knitting this and when I wear it.
