Throughout being poorly the one constant in my life has been knitting. Following a stroke and permanent disability I can do anything but not everything. Knitting is a form of therapy and I make hats for friends to go through their own personal health journey. Cascade fixation provides stretchy fabric and as its cotton it's not too warm. The theory behind having a hat with a bold flower is that it will focus people's attention on the hat and not the fact that all hair has been lost. Colours might look bold but cancer patients often end up with dull, faded skin and the colourful hat provides a lift. Although it's sad to knit them, knitted with love they are an expression of care and warmth while they face treatment that can be very harsh and strips away all visible signs of Facisl beauty .
