My Grandmother and Mother taught me to knit when I was about 6 years old. This timeless, treasured gift from them has served me well for over 50 years. Knitting to me is absolute. I must have it in my life. When I get into a new project I enter a world of shear peace and tranquility.
My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Cancer. During her last days in the hospital - knitting was MY lifesaver. I sat by her bed and as she slept - I knit. When the doctors and nurses attended to her I would move the lounge and knit. I de-stressed. This meant that during this extremely stressful time for me, when dealing with over- sensitive relatives, I was able to handle myself and my emotions with a clear mind.
