    About

Creating a commotion in the ocean, it’s your new pocket-sized pal (and my latest crochet pattern), Eric the starfish! At 13cm/5⅛inch in diameter, Eric can be made in just a few hours. Even better, there’s no sewing. That’s right – no sewing! Eric’s body is worked in two pieces, which are slip stitched together with glitzy goldfingering. Then all you need to do is snip a super-cute smile from stiffened felt and – voilà! – your starfish is ready to make a splash. Add a hanging cord and your aquatic acquaintance also doubles as a dinky decoration!

When I was designing Eric, I wanted to create something palm-sized and tactile, which he definitely is. Even better, he doubles as a decoration, either for the Christmas tree or for all year round maritime merriment! Eric was a lot of fun to make so I’ll definitely be making more starfish in the future, perhaps one with super-chunky wool, another with a different colour on each side and maybe even a laceweight one!
