    About

This is my youngest of 3, Ari. It was after Ari was born that my motivation to knit changed. He was in hospital for the first 6 months for open heart surgery and an esophagus repair. Since being discharged he has had more surgeries brining the total to 9. When there is nothing to do but sit at his bedside and worry and wait I knit. I finished almost an entire baby sweater during the time he was sedated after heart surgery, and another one during the week he was sedated after esophagus surgery. Why knitting? Knitting is portable and demands that I focus on something other than my worries, it isn't so taxing that my exhausted brain can't manage it, it is the perfect distraction and fills time creating something beautiful. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and control when I have anything but. Ari will be 4 at the end of December and is doing wonderful. I spend a lot less time at hospitals and doctors offices now but I still love to knit.

This is a fabulous hoodie and looks great on him. What would we do without our knitting to relieve our stress.

How cute! So glad he is doing better, and I wish him continued good health. I agree with all your reasons for knitting during stressful times. What a great feeling it is to turn balls of yarn into something beautiful to be enjoyed.
