I wanted to make something special for a friend undergoing treatment for breast cancer and knew that she would just love this. I have never knitted yarn so fine before and did initially find it difficult with the large needles and incredibly fine yarn. Made loads of mistakes and had to unpick lots of times - if I had been knitting for myself it would have been abandoned after a couple of days but I'm so glad I persevered as it does look lovely. The pattern has been amended to say that size 6mm needles not required but the instructions recommend casting off using this size if necessary and I did do this as I found that it was a little tight using 5mm. Also, I thought my tension was OK but I did run out of yarn and had to get another ball for the last few rows so needed 3 balls instead of 2. I'm really pleased with the shawl but don't think I would ever knit it again!
