    About

This is a center out knit, garter stitch, Orenburg style lace in a batwing shape, which I started making up as I went along, then charted so I could keep track of the edges where I increased. The first picture shows how border pattern is knit onto the last of the body, one of my favorite ways to bind off. Adapted from stitch patterns in The Gossamer Webs Design Collection by Galina Khmeleva.

My neck gets cold easily. I don't drive and bus everywhere, so I need a scarf I can stuff in a pocket and put on when needed. I like batwings because they curve around the neck and the ends tie behind my neck so it doesn't fall off. I wear them everywhere, about 9 months of the year, and I lose one on the bus every year or two. This is thicker than I usually knit because I lost a warm one recently and needed to replace it fast.
