Thanks Michelle, though I believe the true talent lies with the wonderful people who create the patterns - I'd be making shapeless blobs without them😊😊😊

@Liz M: I totally agree with you Liz, it's amazing the difference in knitting patterns too.If we enjoy a certain designers patterns it's easier to try something new and push yourself. Guess what I met a lady yesterday and she is going to help me learn a some basic crochet stitches, woo hoo granny squares here I come.lol.😊😊

@Michelle M: Great to hear, hope you enjoy yourself - there are some really helpful videos on YouTube you could try too. Who knows what you'll be creating next.
I'm getting a hankering for knitting again after seeing Pat Alinejad's pattern for Honeyberry Bear - I love the fluffy yarn and have tried and failed to do some crochet work with it so who knows what I'll try next. It's great being retired now and having all the time in the world to be creative.
Hope you're staying safe in your part of the world - Australia is my most favourite place to visit and it's heartbreaking what is happening there at the moment. Hope things calm down soon.

@Liz M: Thank you for your encouraging comments Liz.can I ask you if I was wanting to make a very simple crochet toy later on once I learn the basics, where would I look for patterns is there any you would suggest.Oh definitely make Pat's Honeybear her patterns are fantastic you will have fun.😊We are safe where we are the moment but it is so so sad, seeing everything that is happening and they seem to be unable to stop the fires now. I'm glad you like Aust it is can amazing part of the world,we are still very lucky.

@Michelle M: There are lots of good patterns here on Lovecrafts. For an easy project to start on why don't you try the free pattern for a Jellyfish - basically a round ball with curlicues for tentacles (like on my little unicorn). This form of crochet is called Amigurumi - where you crochet round in a continual spiral, increasing to make your circle bigger and decreasing to make it smaller - same as knitting. Once you've mastered the basics there will be no holding you back! Have fun.😊😊😊

@Michelle M: hi Michelle, a really good book to get to start little toys is Edward's Menagerie by Kerry Lord. I'd never crocheted anything except a granny square and got this and it was very easy to follow. It might be a good place to start. Also like Liz I really fancy learning to knit there's so many nice things to make so little time.

@Liz M: thank you Liz,I love those octopuses in the pretty colours and as I have started knitting for prem and sick babies they would be perfect.😊I don't think the lady who is going to show me has ever made toys but if I learn the basics I can try.You must be enjoying having the time to make all the beautiful things you want to Liz now you are retired. There are some amazing patterns out there now and the wool is beautiful.😊😊

@Catherine McG: Thank you Catherine will look for that book to as I would love to try and make some basic toys.I think my library might even have that one. You should definitely learn to knit as they say it is only two stitches knit and purl and I can try and help or the other more experienced ladies on here will help you. Then you can make fluffy toys too.😊😊
