    About

My Mum was coming up to her 80th birthday and to mark this achievement, I wanted to give her something really special. I had just bought some Rowan Fine Lace in a sale and was playing around with ideas when I came across the Summer Throw Pattern by Agrarian Artisan on Ravelry. It looked gorgeous and unlike anything I had attempted before.

Ever the optimist, I started a couple of months before her birthday (January 16). She turned 81 last March (2017) and I've just finished it (work got in the way!). A very late birthday present.

The pattern is wonderful and so clever. It's made up in hexagons but when you lay it out, it looks like circles. The Rowan Fine Lace is perfect. The finished shawl is just right for summer evenings outside and light enough to lay across Mum's legs inside.

She's delighted and loves the fact it took me so long.
