I decided to create this lovely little alpaca for my sister's first child, due in 3 months. As they didn't want to know the sex of their baby before the birth, making clothes was made difficult. So I decided that the perfect thing for my niece/nephew would be a handmade cuddly toy! And that's how Ally was born! I have been knitting for just over a year, and I decided to learn to knit because it was something creative that I could do from home, as I have a chronic illness (arthritis of the spine) and getting out of the house is difficult for me. I also suffer with mental health problems and I was so surprised to find out that knitting became something with lifted my depression and calmed my anxiety. Creating things for others has also made me feel that I'm still involved in my friends and families lives even though I might miss activities and get togethers. I hope that I will get good enough to create items that I could sell one day, so knitting has given me the hope of indepence again.
