YARN These amounts are for wool and acrylic yarns. Some cotton-blend yarns take an additional 20 to 30 yd./18 to 27 m. You’ll also need more yarn for a slouchy that’s longer than 10 in./25 cm.

You'll need a hook in a size to achieve a gauge of 14 dc = 4 in./10 cm -- I used an H-8 (5 mm) -- and a smaller hook for the ribbing.
