    My first shawl of the year. I love boo knits shawls. This one was a little tricky with the mirrored body motifs. I don't use stitch markers but I had to mark off the center stitch on this one. I love this yarn so much. The colour is exquisite

      Ellie - I just read your profile. My Scottish mother taught me to knit exactly like you - needle tucked under the arm. She never used markers, either.

      Interesting that you say that about markers. I'm knitting a shawl right now called ''Haruni''. The danged thing has beaten me several times but I'm more skilled now and am whipping through it. Kicker is - I can't use markers because of the shift. AND (rather proud) ... I've caught mistakes and fixed them.

        If you use stitch markers to mark off all of your repeats you don't get skilled at reading your knitting to find mistakes. Usually you can tell if you've messed up in lace right away because it won't look right. Your increases and decreases won't line up correctly. Markers can obscure that. I had never even heard of using a stitch marker to mark off pattern repeats till relatively recently. Sometimes I use them for shaping though.
