    About

This is my first attempt at lacework knitting.
We welcomed our second son on December 12th, at 2 weeks of age we and our midwives noticed abnormalities with his skull. After several local appointments and one out of town referral appointment we had a diagnosis of sagittal synostosis and a plan for surgery. Surgery for this condition is done very early, Patrick will be 11 weeks old. I started this shawl as something to keep both my mind and hands occupied during the long drives to the referral hospital (2 trips already and several more in the near future). I have always found knitting to be calming and believe it will help during the time Patrick is in surgery. It will be about a 5 hour surgery so I will need something calming/relaxing to keep my mind from running wild.
