    About

Louise has been interested in Tolkien ever since she was at school. When I saw this pattern, about 3 years ago I knew it was for her. Its taken me a long time to finish it as we have had problems over time, but at last I've finished it for her birthday this year

    Pattern

    Gandalf the Grey by Woolythoughts

This pattern can be found here:

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 3.00mm (US 2.5)

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle
    • Stuffing
Other : small black beads for eyes, piece of drinking straw. I used a long metal knitting needle for the staff and used other long needles to stiffen the body and legs as I wanted him to stand up, mounted on a circular wooden slice of beech sanded and waxed

    Measurements

Notes: Knitted as the pattern and he is 50cm tall. I used 2 strands of brown wool to knit the staff instead of using aran weight wool.

Well it was certainly worth completing he looks amazing and although I've not met many wizards I think you've made the hair and beard very realistic.

Thank you, I followed the pattern for both, though at first I found the hair difficult, I was pleased with the end result.
