    About

    This is my own pattern. It's the first time I've used Louet Gems yarn. It's incredibly dense yarn and I couldn't believe how small - and heavy - the 100g skeins were when I opened the package. It's merino and soft, but they really spin this stuff. So I used small needles and decided to make a jacket. Due to the tight spin, it's not as soft as my favorite yarn (cascade heritage 150), but it knit up nicely into a substantial jacket. And great for cables.

      All your work is beautifully done Christine especially all that fancy colourwork which I have yet to attempt! Is this lovely pattern for sale anywhere?

        Thank you, Christine K. What a nice compliment. Not all my work is beautifully done. I rip stuff out a lot and once in a while, I just throw the whole thing away! I did not write anything down when I made this little jacket. But I have some more cable spun sport weight yarn in my stash (MillaMia Naturally Soft Merino), and I will make it again, and write the directions down this time. I will let you know - it may be a couple of months.

        @Christine L:
        Absolutely no worries Christine. No rush at all and I appreciate you doing it. I think you can publish and sell on the site if you are so inclined? I am not a selling kind of person myself but I imagine it is useful to many. I undo anything with minor errors that I notice too cos I know it will bug me later!
        I did one circular fair isle dress and then realised I had twisted the bottom so gave up. But there is one little cardi with apples and the like I will try again in the future. You are obviously very patient!

        Thank you, Susan P. I was hunting for a yarn to redesign my rugby sweaters after Cascade discontinued Heritage 150, but this isn't it.

        Thank you, Alison. The color is even more lovely in person, and the yarn is superb for cables.
