Classic stitches in colorful combinations!
Worked from the center out, this baby blanket was knitted back-and-forth in rows on a single circular needle with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn. The pattern consisted of a chevron bramble variation combined with contrasting bands of chevron garter.
On Row 20, stitch markers were employed to set up the remainder of the pattern. Then it turned into a 6-row repeat for the bramble portion and a 4-row repeat for the garter portion - both requiring minimal counting. As with all center-out knitting, the first few rows worked up quite quickly and the last few rows were a bit slooow. :)
After knitting, a single seam was sewn to join the blanket edges. (It’s strategically hidden in one of the purl “gutters”.)
I love the textural contrast between the bramble and garter stitch bands. I think this pattern would make a striking full-sized afghan with the bramble bands in graduated neons and the garter bands in solid black.
