    About

I wanted to create an heirloom quilt . My sister appreciates hand crafted gifts. This was started in January and I crocheted a few squares a month, learning some knew patterns as I went. The book by Darla Sim , YouTube and Love crochet patterns were inspirational. As my sample blocks were of different sizes I crocheted them together adding mini blocks to create even columns. An experienced crocheter could make this a lot more quickly than I did. This took me approx 9 and a half months making seven or eight 'squares' a month depending on my health and inclination!
I bought 3 packs of aran yarn (30 balls in total) although only used 27. A person experienced with crochet would probably use less as won't have reject /practised pattern pieces. The remaining balls of yarn will be used to crochet toys or a simple large 'granny square' to go on my bed !
