While on holiday I created a doily with some bargain yarn I found and was pretty pleased with how it turned out. Thought I would give it another go but this time using some Petra Cotton that I had got for another project that never happened.
I love this. I taught myself to crochet, making doilies first from the internet a couple of years ago.
They reminded me so much of the beautiful work I used to watch my grandmother do so many years ago.
Now I love making them and use them on the garden tables when we have friends round for dinner/lunch. They are a great way of using up all those cotton balls left over.
That is a really good idea especially as I have a rather plain garden table. Thank you for the inspiration. My Grandmother was fantastic at crochet but I did not appreciate it at the time and hope she would be proud of what I can now achieve. My Granddad on the other side of the family made a really fantastic granny square scrap blanket that was also an inspiration if he could do it so could I, it has stayed with me ever since in every car I ever owned.
@Sarah T: that's so special, Sarah. And I'm sure or grannies and grandadds are all (would be) so proud of what we have achieved.
Like you, I didn't learn early, but I'm sure trying to make up time. I love this crochet lark and usually always have a little ball of cotton and a hook in my hand bag.
