    About

My Granny started making this jumper back in the 70's. She got as far as knitting the sleeves and the back, then hid it in the back of a cupboard until last year when she decided someone should finally finish it!

anyone looking to buy the pattern - I just found a copy on ebay for £2.50. It's sirdar country style dk 6109 fits 32-36" chest. Looks much more muted on the pattern cover so have a good look on the picture!

The jumper that I knitted was very similar to this one but, unless my memory is faulty(which it sometimes is) it had cows in the foreground not sheep. It was a Sirdar Country Style dk pattern & the first picture jumper that I knitted, one of many, for one of my daughters. It had so many colours in it that I made a stripey jumper for another daughter with the leftovers. Of course I then had to make other picture jumpers for my 2 other daughters & made many more jackets, jumpers & cardigans with similar themes! This would have started in the 1970s too.

This jumper caught my eye as my Mum also made this for me back in the 70s. I think it was a Sirdar pattern.

My I went to your sweater at first glance. I made. A much simpler spring sweater for my grandniece who was a year old last year. This would have to wait till she is a little bigger. It is just lovely, with the detail and colors! Does someone have a link to the pattern?

I love a jumper that tells a story. I usually end up with people giving me their part knitted items to finish.

You nearly had me in tears Josephine. My mum knitted me this jumper & I wore it for years until it was falling to bits. Mum passed away 22 years ago & your lovely photo whizzed me down memory lane. Great knitting - thank you! ????

I also made this one back in the day! Loved it and wore it out completely. Pattern is Sirdar country style dk 6109. Now I've remembered how lovely it was, I might just knit it again for my daughter. Thanks Josephine R!

Ohhh! I think I bought the pattern, way back then, but never got around to making it. It must've got lost during one of my many moves. I was planning to reverse the front pattern to make the back (instead of having it just plain), and maybe add clouds at the tops of the sleeves?
