    About

My husband has this jumper already in a lovely silver grey but has wanted it in black for ages, but I have so far refused as I don’t like knitting in really dark colours. But as it was his birthday I gave in and have started to knit him his favourite jumper ! It’s slow going knitting this jumper, think it’s because it’s blackand I’m finding it difficult to see what I’m doing with the pattern. I’m finally onto the sleeves ! Still knitting the sleeves just finished the increases but I’m running out of wool! And the black Aran paintbox is out of stock😮. Almost finished now, spent most of Sunday trying to fit the sleeves and this saddle!! bit ,driving me 😜 finally got it done just got to do the collar and bands yippee!!!! Yay finally finished, just sewn up the jumper and put on the buttons, glad I’ve finished, never going to knit it again in black!!!! Think my eyes were going together 🤪

Thank you Tamara C for you lovely comments, yes it was a labour of love this jumper, difficult to knit using the black Aran , sometimes it wasn’t easy to see the pattern as I knitted, so I had to keep counting all the time. Vowed I’d never knit another one! 😂

I agree with everyone about knitting in dark colours it's so hard and then you have the sewing up.grrr.but you have made a beautiful job of his jumper and next time you can tell him it's white or nothing.lol oh then you have to try and keep it clean.lol

Thankyou Sandra A, yes my husband loves the jumper ,he hardly takes it off, moans when I put it in for a wash, he has a grey one almost identical to the black one, but it’s not as warm!

Thankyou Valerie W x as I said I won’t be knitting another one in that colour again, it was very difficult to see the pattern as you were knitting it . Although I have one very happy husband who hardly takes off the jumper!

I've knitted a black aran so I know how much time and effort you put into it. It is beautiful.

Wow, you finished it in ONE month! The cardigan for my husband took months - I don't like knitting hug peaces! Very nice pattern, I love it.

It is looking really good, well done for keep going. I struggle with working in very dark colours now, I use a neck light and put a white towel on my lap, which helps a little. You will have one very handsome hubby showing off your beautiful work.

Thankyou Sandra, it’s driving me crazy knitting it because it’s in black and I can’t see the pattern as I knit!

Beautiful work - I made one similar 40 years ago - I don't know that I'd be brave enough to do one now!

Looks fabulous to me! Got to keep a chap happy! Brownie points for you. I can see perfectly close up as I am really short sighted, mind you I wouldn't see a bus until it was a few yards away!

I think you are very brave to attempt such a large project in black yarn! I only ever knitted a hat in black and vowed NEVER EVER again.

Yes I’m finding it difficult as I can’t see the pattern to see if I’m making any mistakes! It’s driving me slightly crazy 😜
