    About

I was going to make something else for Abigail’s birthday but was a wee bit worried that I’m unable to design & perfect the pattern on time. Given the constricted timeline & the fact that I’d have to make an identical one for her little sister as well, I resorted to getting a published pattern.

I believe you’ve also seen this adorable lamb many times before too. The pattern is rather simple yet wonderful to knit! Was such a delight to see the shapes take place as you knit along & I’m particularly fond of the peanut-like body’s shape.

It calls for fuzzy yarn but I’ve been wanting to make full use this soft chenille for the longest time - it has been sitting on my cart for a year. Definitely chuffed that my tweaking with the materials didn't fail & the lambs turned out rather spot on!

P.S : Elly texted yesterday, saying that the girls (Mum & Dad too) are loving their newly adopted little lambs very much. That deserves a cup of tea & a happy dance, now yea?

    Pattern

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
Worsted Yarn - White 1 ball
    • material-yarn
Chenille Yarn - Yellow 1 ball

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 4.00mm (US 6)

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle
    • Stuffing
Other : 7.5 mm Safety Eyes & 12.0 mm Safety Noses

Extra : Ribbons & alphabet charms to clearly identify which lamb is who’s. Else, they’ll be bickering.

    Measurements

    Notes: Measurements : ( H ) 24 cm X ( W ) 12 cm

Notes : I’ve made some minor adjustments to the body (by reducing some stitches & switching M1 to KFB for rows that required increases made throughout the entire row) because of the chenille yarn. The fluffy & non-stretchy nature of the yarn made it impossible to work M1 more than 4 times at once. It also produced a body that’s a tad too big, which isn't proportionate to the rest of the lamb.

We were a bit nervous if the lambs are liked or not because Abby received quite a number of presents - to a point where she unwrapped 3 exact Smiggle bags gifted by 3 different folks!

I suppose you can't go wrong with handmade presents. ;)

@Na.Y: Well I think a handmade present carries all the love and care that you knitted into it. It's so much better

Thank you, Alison. I might make 2 more as a big sister's & her soon to be born little sister's presents. We're so excited that we're going to have another niece to add to the bunch (although initially thought to be a baby boy). Yippee!
