    About

My sister and friend had babies, and I got a chihuahua last year so I started knitting again after not knitting since childhood, then taught myself to crochet. This project was the first time I have tried knitting something in an adult size. It was a task. I have had anoxic seizures and Postural Tachycardia Syndrome causing significant injuries, due to a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Holding needles can be really hard and painful due to the hypermobility in my hands. However, knitting again has helped keep the surrounding muscles strong keeping bones in joint, and has helped maintain my mental health after my conditions prevented me from working as a doctor after years of university. Knitting/crochet is something that helps occupy my time on days when in bed as standing or sitting too long has me collaping with anoxic seizures. Using an iPad to mark off electronic patterns means I can now follow a pattern easier, regardless of my health and under-perfused brain!
