I made a hexagon tote bag using leftover cotton dk from my stash. I used Lucy of the Attic24 Hexagon How-to:
http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2008/11/hexagon-crochet.html and a crochet along tutorial by Alice Merlino for the Hex Tote:
http://www.futuregirl.com/craft_blog/labels/the%20hex%20crochet-a-long.aspx
I used the layout from The Hex at Speckless:
http://www.hellospeckless.com/the-hex/
I made mine about 40 squares (10 wide by 4 deep folded in half). Finished bag 5 wide by 4 deep about 38cm by 40cm.
Half hexie pattern to go with Attic24 hexagons:

I did an edging of 2 rows dc, one row granny triples (3 treble in ch, sk 2 ch), one row dc and one row reverse dc (crab stitch).
I used handles from Summer Fun Market/Beach Tote - 60cm long. I didn't join in the middle, but increased at the end of the handle to match.
