    About

So I've been going to spinning class; that's the original definition of spinning, not the cycling-but-going-nowhere definition!!

In class, we've been spinning only a few metres of each technique whilst we've been learning, and I'm working on a borrowed spinning wheel.
Anyhoo, I bought myself a little bundle of commerically prepared fibre tops. This is a mutlicoloured one called Duckle Daisy, and I have now spun my 1st bobbinful (approx 70g). As my spinning is not even enough yet to make it into 2plies, I'll ply 3 singles. It'll be around a Worsted/Aran weight. I wont know how many metres there will be until I've plied it.

Although I was enjoying learning the techniques each week, I wasn't really very enthused about spinning (when doing short quantities) as it seemed like a lot of effort for very little product. However, I may now be hooked!!!

Duckle Daisy (and many other gorgous fibres) can be purchased from http://www.worldofwool.co.uk/

@CraftyG: Thank you. It's a family name. I just got my first spinning wheel after working on a spindle for many months. I have been learning (albeit, slowly) and it is so much fun. Your yarn is inspiring!

@Antonietta T: I used a drop spindle for several weeks, I'm currently borrowing a wheel, and am hoping to get one from Santa ;)
I'll be keen to see the yarns you produce on your wheel & I've just found (and added you as a friend) on Ravelry :D

I have to agree with Christine, Sweat is over rated unless you are on a beach with a fru fru drink. Love your work, I am sure you will really enjoy creating with it. I attended Fiber Fest over the weekend (Hunter Valley, Australia ) and picked up hand died and spun yarns in so many different fibers. HAVE A BLAST WITH YOUR YARN!

Thank you Susan :) I love colour change yarns, and have learnt how to do Marl, Corespun, Slub, Tweed and Nep/Noil yarns in the classes. However as it has so many colours in it, I want to keep this one simple and to see what the finished (plied) yarn will come out like - I'll post another pic of that once I've spun another bobbinful and plied them... though it may take me a while ;)

This has got to be the best sort of spinning (unlike the sweaty kind!!! ) something to show at the end.
