    The pattern is very poorly written, but if you can muddle through it and feel confident enough to make your own way through it once you figure out how to make the crocodile scales, go for it. Having a nicely variegated yarn really adds to the look, in my opinion.

      I have to agree with you about the vareigated yarn, this is a beautiful mermaid blanket! This gives me insperation to try the crocodile stitch again, I have not been able to "get" this one yet.

        See if you can find a video showing the technique. It’s tricky to follow the written directions for the crocodile stitch without seeing it done. Good luck!

        Thank you! I used Red Heart yarn. I am not a fan of that yarn generally, but they have a wonderful selection of ocean-themed variegated yarn. I made 3 of these for my granddaughters, each having a slightly different color scheme.
