    About

I've had my eye on the Crochet Girl Gang CAL for a few weeks before deciding to try it! I've never crocheted a granny square before and this was a lovely way to learn how to make 5 different motifs. The video tutorials were very helpful too. I chose bright and cheerful colours- I think my 4 year old cousin will like this the most! Right now I'm sewing up all the ends (as best I can).

I am super impressed. I don't know if I have the patience for this yet. I just started crocheting again. This is really pretty and you did a fantastic job. I love the color choices!

Kelly can you tell me how you went about joining? Not the
stitch you used but how you joined did you attach the first row or what ? Mine is still in piles, because I am not sure where to start. You did a great job.

Hi Jan! Thank you. My joining isn't consistent, but I tried to follow the blog post about the CAL that explained joining.
First I laid out all my pieces to see what my arrangement would be, then I started in a corner and lined the sides of 2 pieces that would be next to each other, together. I usually started my sewing from the piece on the right and anchored the beginning of the sewing in the corner/first few stitches of the two pieces to secure them. Then sewing the two together and securing the ends again! I always worked in the first rows of each piece (so the last row when crocheting it), e.g. the stitches at the top of the last row.

I didn't join the pieces in any order, I started with two colours on one side of the blanket but eventually went across and began randomly joining colours left to right and down depending on my mood :) there are mistakes all over my joining, but don't be afraid to start putting it together!

I think the video in the blog post is really helpful i

@Kelly: Hi Kelly thanks for responding. Yes I had watched the video, but it only showed connecting one. I guess I just have to jump right in and do it. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed, when I see it laid out.

I still need to order more white yarn to finish the edges - it's not perfect but I'm still learning :)

@Kelly: We are all still learning and for someone learning you have done a pretty good job. I would certainly have been happy to have turned out a blanket like that.

You have done really well with this you will have to add a picture when it is all put together. The Seafoam Blue is one of my favourite colours and I love the Daffodil Yellow too.

        Thank you, Sarah!
I think that I'm still too beginner to learn how to block the pieces, let's hope that the blanket will look okay once I sew it all together :) I really love the shades Washed Teal and Blush Pink at the moment - Seafoam Blue is lovely too!
